MzShellz: The Empowering Voice of Indigenous Hip Hop
MzShellz is a talented hip hop artist who has been making waves in the music industry for over 8 years. Born and raised in the Carry the Kettle Reservation and Regina City, she moved to Vancouver 13 years ago to pursue her passion for music. Before becoming an emcee, she honed her skills as a poet, using her words to express her thoughts and feelings about the world around her.
MzShellz's partner, who is already in the music industry as Chief Rock and part of the group Enter-Tribal, played a crucial role in recognizing MzShellz's talent and fully immersing her into the industry. Together, they launched her career with her debut album and music video, which tackled important topics such as domestic violence, which she is a survivor of, and the struggles of being a hard-working mom who hustles to make a living. Through her music, MzShellz brings women empowerment and self-confidence to the forefront, inspiring the next generation of First Nations females into the music industry and other creative venues alike.
MzShellz has traveled extensively throughout North America, performing at venues ranging from Toronto to New Mexico to LA. In 2022, she was honored as the Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the International Indigenous Hip Hop Awards. In addition to her music career, MzShellz also runs a successful urban clothing brand called Native By Nature, which has been featured in several fashion shows.
With her unique sound and compelling lyrics, MzShellz is poised to make a big impact in the music world. Her passion for her craft is evident in every performance, and she is dedicated to using her platform to elevate the voices and stories of Indigenous people everywhere.
